Adlai is the Chisou Star in Suikoden II.
He also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 1.

Background[]
Adlai is an inventor and the mentor of Shizu. He lives in South Window where he causes much trouble for his neighbors. The elevator he invented was so heavy, it had to be lifted by four muscular barbarians.
Appearance[]
Adlai has grey hair and beard and wears glasses. He wears a purple outfit under a white lab coat.
Personality[]
Adlai is certainly a good scientist, but is also kind of antipathetic. Not only is he annoying his neighbors with his noises and experiments, but also constantly asks for requests in exchange for his services. The only way to deal with Adlai's personality is to put him in his place. Then, he could "almost" be a nice person.
Story[]
Suikoden II[]
Adlai requested three items from Riou. Riou brought him the two first items, and decided to throw the last one, the Wind Crystal, at him. After being hit by the item, He praised Riou for standing up to him, and joined the New State Army in the process. He then, used his knowledge and inventor skills and built an elevator at Dunan Castle. After the war, he returned to South Window to continue inventing and making trouble to his neighbors.
Role in the Game[]
After you obtain your headquarters, you can find Adlai in South Window. You must get him a Sacrificial Jizo, a Wooden Shield, and a Wind Crystal in that order. All except the Sacrificial Jizo can be found in South Window. When you give him the Wind Crystal, you must throw it at him instead of handing it to him. Adlai will praise you for standing up to him and join your army.
Adlai sets up an elevator at Dunan Castle.
Adlai is a support unit with +0 ATK +0 DEF
In the war tactics, Adlai can join either someone who has a Cavalry skill or not. His skill is the Invention where he uses his inventions as his throwing weapons such as bombs and explosions which proves to be effective to damage the enemy. When using this ability, Adlai has two quotes during the activation.
- Invention (x1) - Damage all enemies within 1 square in all four directions, including its own unit.
