The Bone Dragon (ボーンドラゴン; Bōn Doragon) is a boss encounter in Suikoden II.
Description[]
The Bone Dragon appears exactly as it's name implies, a colossal skeleton of a dragon. Also, as it's name implies, it is an undead creature.
Little is known about the Bone Dragon aside from it's being summoned from the Netherworld by the notable villain, Yuber. Not content to get his hands dirty in actual combat, Yuber summons the Bone Dragon to attack Riou and his companions during the Liberation of Greenhill, in the later stages of the Dunan Unification War. When the Bone Dragon is defeated, a frustrated Yuber flees the scene immediately, returning to Highland, presumably, since he is encountered there later.
As A Boss[]
The Bone Dragon immediately proves to be a significant threat to the party with several terrifying abilities and it is one of the most difficult boss battles in the game due to its sheer attacking power.
It is able to freely detach it's skull and send it out to perform a vicious biting attack. Being a dragon, it still possesses the ability to produce a flame-breath attack, only now using a ghostly blue flame. The Bone Dragon can also use the same otherworldly phantom attack as the Abomination, encountered much earlier in the game.
Those good with Wind or Cyclone Runes, especially Luc, as well as Resurrection Rune users are most recommended in the party in order to bring this boss down. The Shredding scrolls are also a must to be used at the start of the battle. The boss hits for large amounts of damage at a time, usually between 100-250 damage, so be prepared to heal when necessary.
