The Chikei Star, also known as the Halted Star, is one the 108 Stars of Destiny.
The Chikei Star often belongs to a Young Girl Trickster character, a maker of gadgets. Like the Chisyun Star, this may be a sort of pun on the difference between Chinese and Japanese. The original glyph in the name, 嵇, has no particular meaning in modern Chinese and is only used in surnames and place names. The glyph is not even used in Japanese, so for Suikoden it was replaced with the similar-looking 稽, which is not really closely related (note the pronunciation) and means "think, consider".
Many Chikei star are good friends with the Chiku Star (The Empty Star) and also tend to participate in the Pretty Girl Attack/Nymph Attack.
The original Diji Star from the novel Water Margin was Cao Zheng, also known as Knife Wielding Demon. He has little in common with his counterparts from the games, being a butcher, then a restaurateur, then a leader of the bandits of Mount Twin Dragons.
