Defending Headquarters (本拠地防衛戦; Honkyochi Boueisen) was an army battle in Suikoden II. It is the fourth battle in the game.
Description[]
Defending Headquarters was a battle that occurred during the Dunan Unification War, triggered by the Highland Kingdom’s attempt to crush the faction led by Riou by invading their headquarters, Dunan Castle.
The army led by Riou, using the ruins of North Window as a temporary fortress, faced off against the Highland Army, which had just captured South Window and was still in disarray. Initially, the Highland forces were thought to hold a decisive advantage due to their superior numbers. A head-on clash would have likely ended in defeat, but thanks to Shu’s tactics, former South Window soldiers within the Highland army were persuaded to defect, turning the tide of battle. Shu had timed it so that Riou and another unit would appear behind enemy lines after the battle had begun.
Riou's army successfully repelled the forces led by Solon Jhee.
This victory became the catalyst for the formation of the New State Army, with Riou as its leader, beginning a full-scale counterattack against the Kingdom.
