The Diversion for the Battle to Reclaim Greenhill (グリンヒル奪還戦揺動; Gurinhiru Dakkan-sen Youdou), also known as the Greenhill City Recapture Operation (グリンヒル市攻略作戦; Gurinhiru-shi Kouryaku-sen), was an army battle in Suikoden II. It is the tenth battle in the game. This battle has three separate options for the player - to participate in this battle, to participate in the Battle to Reclaim Greenhill (グリンヒル奪還戦; Gurinhiru Dakkan-sen), or to stay at the HQ.
Description[]
The Battle to Reclaim Greenhill was a battle initiated by the New State Army to recapture Greenhill City, which had been occupied by the Highland Kingdom’s forces. In this operation, the New State Army executed a two-pronged strategy.
General Hauser, Viktor, and Flik were sent to the Muse-Greenhill Border, tasked with holding off Highland reinforcements coming from Muse. At the same time, General Kiba Windamier and Klaus Windamier launched an assault on the city itself. Apple remained at the HQ to coordinate communications between the two armies.
Meanwhile, the player (as Riou) could choose to accompany either army or remain at headquarters with Apple, though this did not affect the overall battle outcome.
The Muse-Greenhill Border Battle is known as the Battle to Reclaim Greenhill, while the battle fought outside Greenhill City is known as the Diversion for the Battle to Reclaim Greenhill.
The operation was a success, and they managed to break into Greenhill City.
Inside the city, the New State Army faced a fierce battle against a Bone Dragon summoned by the Highland swordsman Yuber. After a hard-fought struggle, the Bone Dragon was defeated, and the New State Army succeeded in reclaiming Greenhill City.
