Dunan Kingdom

Dunan Kingdom

The Kingdom of Dunan, also known as the Dunan Monarchy, (デュナン君主国; Dunan Kunshukoku) was a country located on the central-east coast of the Northern Continent. An autocratic monarchy, the Dunan Kingdom had its capital at South Window City. It was succeeded by the City-States of Jowston and, later, the Dunan Republic.

History[]

The Dunan Kingdom, the predecessor of South Window Principality, was an autocratic state established in Solar Year 110 by its first ruler, King Bernand. Although King Bernand imposed heavy taxes on his people, the region remained unified under his rule. Comprised of the modern day principalities of South Window, Eastern Muse, and Two River, the Dunan Kingdom's capital was South Window City.

By the reign of King Beryl, three generations later, the kingdom entered a golden age under wise governance. While the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia existed to the north at this time, Harmonia showed little interest in this area during that period. Due to the lack of neighboring states or external threats at the time, the military gradually weakened.

Muse City, under the leadership of Revier, declared independence in Solar Year 185, taking a large portion of land with it. Border disputes began occurring frequently. This was followed by Two River City in leaving 212. The kingdom no longer had the strength to prevent their secession. Ultimately, the internal conflict in Solar Year 252 led to the collapse of the Dunan Kingdom and the abolishment of the monarchy. This paved the way for the establishment of modern South Window Principality, and the mayoral city of South Window was established in its place.

Even after its dissolution, the name “Dunan Monarchy” was still sometimes used in formal speech, particularly among military personnel.
