The elder brother of Michelan Rugner and therefore uncle to Barbarossa Rugner. Despite his status at the eldest son of Kranach Rugner, Karnach's dying wish was that Michelan be chosen as the successor and Emperor of the Scarlet Moon Empire, robbing Geil of what could be considered his rightful honour.
Geil was born as Georg Rugner, but later had it changed to Geil as it was more favourable from an astrological perspective. Although he was known throughout the nation as Geil Rugner, close friends and generals of Geil often called him Georg.
Geil was unhappy with this result but kept silent, taking advantage of Michelan's lack of political pull, gained influence with aristocrats and other notable persons of note. When Michelan died in 446, Geil convened a meeting of the House of Lords, issuing a decree that Crown Prince Barbarossa should have his right to the throne removed. The other aristocrats, influenced or blackmailed by Geil's henchmen, agreed and Barbarossa's right to the throne was removed. Thus, Geil became Emperor of the Scarlet Moon Empire.
Amassing an impressive military, Geil seemed well prepared for the Succession War garnering followers such as the famed Schmidt, Kreutz and Bergen. However, gathering an even more impressive and varied group, Barbarossa defeated Geil within a year, and Geil was killed in a final confrontation at Gregminster Palace.
