Genso Suikoden: Soul Eater Volume 1 (幻想水滸伝―ソウルイーター〈上〉; Gensousuikoden Souru Iitaa〈Jou〉) is the first book in the Genso Suikoden Soul Eater novel series. It was written by Shinjiro Hori and illustrated by Shou Yashioka and Junko Kawano and was released on December 25, 1999 in Japan.

- Summary: Leknaat, in the course of performing her Star-Seer ceremony, notices the appearance of the Tenkai Star. Other stars begin to appear, as if answering the call of the Tenkai Star. Her apprentice Luc approaches and they speak about the stars of destiny, as well as the true runes.

- Summary: Ted and Tir are hunting rabbits just outside of Gregminster. Tir then has to rush off for a meeting with his father, Teo, and the Emperor Barbarossa Rugner. Teo is sent off to the north while Tir is offered a position in the Imperial Guard. After the audience with the emperor, father and son return home to a feast with Ted, Cleo, Pahn, and Gremio.
