Genso Suikoden II Volume 3 (幻想水滸伝2〈3〉) is the third book in the Genso Suikoden 2 novelization series, which tells the story of Suikoden II.
It was written by Shinjiro Hori who also wrote the Genso Suikoden Soul Eater novels, and illustrated by Shou Yashioka and Fumi Ishikawa.
Story[]
The New State Army has been formed with its headquarters at the old North Window castle. Riou, who has become the leader, headed to Two River City to form an alliance. He saw a town where three tribes - humans, kobolds and wingers - were living in enmity. Will Riou be able to once again put together this disconnected city-state alliance? Also, Riou will receive information that a general by the name of Jowy Atreides has captured and occupied Greenhill City. Riou will be shocked by the news of his close friend being in the Highland army, but ..... we are increasingly at the climax of this story.

Differences from the game[]
- Viktor and Freed Yamamoto go with Riou and Nanami to the Matilda Knightdom to help protect him. Both Viktor and Freed speak to Gorudo (with Viktor yelling and becoming angry).
- Camus and Miklotov kneel in front of Riou to pledge themselves to him after quitting the knights (and Gorudoleaves the room). The other knights do the same. In the book it mentions that their swords clang nicely against the floor.
- Shu still meets Riou on his way back from Matilda. He informs him that he sent an emissary to the Toran Republic while Riou was in Matilda. Valeria is sent back, and Gordon and Lorelai also come with her.
- On the way back from Matilda, they meet Futch and Bright, as well as Humphrey Mintz. No mention of them going to Rakutei Mountain, nor is it explained how they get to the village even though it is not on the way back from Matilda.
