House of Aethelbald is mentioned in Suikoden V.
Description[]
Once one of the most prominent families in Falenan politics, the powerful Aethelbald family controlled the city of Stormfist and Hershville Naval Base until SY 350 when they were overthrown from the city by the Godwin family. One of the oldest families, the Aethelbald family could trace their line of descent even earlier than the Royal Falenan Family could. In SY 250, Khorshed Falenas, then the reigning monarch, gifted Stormfist, the former capital of Falena, to the Aethelbald family. However, they would not remain in control for more than a century, as the young Godwin faction usurped power from the Aethelbalds, taking control of Stormfirst in 350 and driving the Aethelbald family into obscurity; following 350, records of the Aethelbald family abruptly stopped.
However, in the year SY 450, Egbert Aethelbald, a descendant of the Aethelbald family, joined the Falenan Loyalist Army in order to help in the overthrow of his own family's usurpers, whom Egbert held a venomous grudge against. During the war, the Aethelbald family line would even come to play a role in the capture of a thief, Raven, who could not resist the lure of such an old family tree. Rather than attempt to regain any power in Stormfist after the war, however, Egbert returned to the sewers that he had first met the Falenan Loyalist Army leader, Freyjadour Falenas, in, apparently for the sake of just being eccentric.
