Juan was the Bujutsu Teacher of the Budehuc Castle. Even though he naps all day, his Heavy Damage and Continual Attack are top notch.
Juan is one of Thomas' main party members (the other being Piccolo, and as such he'll accompany you on all major events). It was Juan that told Thomas of Nor (A local boy who happens to have the same name as Thomas the castle master) about how he once slew a tiger up at Mt. Hei-Tou, which caused him to go there and get trapped by a boar. Juan was the first of the team (which included Thomas, Cecile, Piccolo and himself) to attack the boar. Afterward, he apologized to Thomas of Nor for telling him the story. He assisted in the search for Eike and proposed the idea of splitting up at the cross road under the castle. He and Piccolo went one way, while Thomas, Cecile and Sebastian went the other. When Cecile was about to run after the mysterious figure in the dark, Juan told her to control her charging instinct, which only moments eariler caused the group to crash into each other.
Later, when Budehuc was invaded, Juan was set with the task of running a message to Brass Castle. When Leo and Percival of the Zexen Knights announced that Thomas was being removed as castle master, Juan was coldly indifferent showing no care whatsoever. However, when Thomas stood ground and refused to leave his castle and was threatened by use of force, Juan stated that if they wanted to take their castle lord, they'd have to get through him to do it. He then says that he hates the way Thomas acts so indifferent about things but how he likes that he's the only master to ever care about the castle itself. He aided in the defense of the castle, but failed to defeat a particularly strong group of enemies.
After the castle was saved, Juan is seen laying down in the court yard to take a nap. However, when the Fire Bringer come to the castle, Juan is seen arguing with Jefferson, who is calling him the "Goldbrick Gang Boss", much to Juan's disapproval.

He may fall asleep on stage.
Let's make it a rule at the castle to take a nap twice in the morning and in the afternoon. I'm serious.
Lilly's skill of inflicting heavy damage is something! Although her personality isn't that great...
Ayame's repel skill is incredible. If we train her properly, she could avoid any attack.
Ask Thomas whether he's serious about improving his parrying skill. It would take time, but I'm sure he'd be very good.
If Fred is trained to better use his shield, I'm sure he'd be great.
He runs a training center. He has no customers, so he naps all day long.
Emily was trying to find him. My guess is that he's sleeping somewhere. She's angry because he always skips training.
He chews leaves. These leaves are herbs that cause drowsiness. They grow somewhere in the Castle.
His father was beaten by a drifter at his training center. He says he's waiting for that drifter to return. Why doesn't he find him himself?
- While Juan's Waking Rune can be a nightmare, the yellow scarf that Watari wears is capable of allowing Juan to stay awake in battle (Or if you have the chance to get a Taikyoku Tunic, give it to Juan because it's considered the best armor for him in terms of defence and status protect). If given the swing ability, Juan can become a dangerous opponent.
- He might be a reference to a well known figure in Filipino folklore, Juan Tamad, who, incidentally, sleeps all day.
