The Lightning Rune (雷の紋章; Kaminari no Monshō) is a type of rune in the Suikoden series. One of the five elemental runes, equipping it enables the use of lightning-based attack magic against single targets.
Description[]
It allows the user to cast lightning magic, which can attack single targets or multiple targets. Unlike the Fire Rune, the Lightning Rune has no chance of accidentally hitting allies. The Lightning Rune has appeared in every main Suikoden game. When a Lightning Orb is attached to a character by a runemaster, it becomes a Lightning Rune.
There is a stronger version of the Lightning Rune called the Thunder Rune. The true version is called the True Lightning Rune.
Suikoden I[]
- Angry Blow (いかりの一撃): 150 damage to 1 enemy.
- Rainstorm (らいう): 100 damage to all enemies.
- Raging Blow (げきどの一撃): 600 damage to 1 enemy.

- Angry Blow (怒りの一撃): 100 damage to 1 enemy.
- Thunder Runner (しっそうする雷撃): 120 damage to 1 column of enemies.
- Bolt of Wrath (天雷): 600 damage to 1 enemy.
- Thor Shot (雷撃球): 1000 damage to 1 enemy. Can be united with Explosion. In the remastered version it was renamed as Lightning Ball.
Suikoden III[]
- Thunder Runner: 100 damage to 1 target, and line of sight enemies in front.
- Berserk Blow: 250 damage to 1 enemy.
- Soaring Bolt: 900 damage divided among all enemies.
- Furious Blow: 1000 damage to target plus line of sight enemies beyond.
Suikoden IV[]
- Berserk Blow: 100 damage to all enemies.
- Thunder Runner: 300 damage to 1 enemy.
- Soaring Bolt: 600 damage to 1 enemy.
- Furious Blow: 900 damage to 1 enemy.
Suikoden Tactics[]
- Lightning Force: Change terrain to Lightning element.
- Thunder Runner: Damage units in area, and changes terrain to Lightning.
- Berserk Blow: Damage 1 enemy, and changes terrain to Fire element.
- Heavenly Thunder: Damage all units standing on Lightning element terrain.
Suikoden V[]
One of the lower runes of the Five Elements, granting the use of lightning-based magic. It provides four spells: Thunder Runner:, Berserk Blow:, Soaring Bolt:, and Furious Blow:. A higher-tier version, the Thunder Rune, exists.
