The Lordlake Rebellion was a protest launched by disgruntled citizens of Lordlake which led to the ravaging of the region by the Sun Rune.

The year 447 saw the building of a dam by the House of Barows in the southern reaches of their territory, in approximately the same place as where Hatred Fortress would later be built. The dam ended up decreasing the amount of water flowing down the Feitas to the town of Lordlake.

Eventually, the unrest grew until a group of citizens decided to march to the dam in protest. Note that no actual action was to be taken at the time. Upon arriving at the dam, Lord Rovere tried to calm the restless crowd. However, the garrison captain, Euram Barows, quickly panicked upon viewing the large gathering and ordered his garrison to disperse the crowd by force.

The small garrison was quickly overwhelmed and the dam destroyed. The wreckage of the dam would later disperse all over the lower Feitas. Interestingly, this would prove vital two years later when Bahram Luger's fleet attacked Raftfleet only to strike the wreckage once the water levels were dropped in a ploy by Lucretia Merces.

After the destruction of the Barows dam, the crowd, now caught up in the momentum, decided to march directly on to Sol-Falena in order to lodge a formal protest with Queen Arshtat Falenas.

Upon hearing of the incident at the garrison and that the group was going to march on Sol-Falena, Salum Barows ordered some of own men to infiltrate the group and upon passing the East Palace, to loot it, stealing the Dawn Rune.

Upon hearing of the incident, Lucretia Merces, at the time a strategist of Marscal Godwin, quickly betrayed Marscal for she was aware that he was planning to use the incident to claim the Sun Rune. She advised Arshtat to bear the Sun Rune herself in order to prevent such a thing from happening. However, the effect of the Sun Rune took hold very quickly, and so, upon hearing of the looting of the East Palace by what appeared to be Lordlake citizens led by Lord Rovere, the Sun Rune was used on Lordlake, drying up the area completely. After the incident, Lord Rovere and his family were arrested and executed for treason against the crown and Lordlake became a Pariah in the eyes of Falena.

Although the Sun Rune decimated the area immediately around Lordlake, the town could have still recovered given time, especially now that the dam had been removed. However, the Godwin faction quickly moved, establishing the Hatred Fortress dam around the area where the Barows dam formerly stood. In fact, wary of covering both their tracks in their attempts to betray the crown and eager to eliminate what had once been a pro-royal region and Senate faction, both the Godwin and Barows factions continued to push for harsh measures and restrictions to be placed on the region.

Thus, the region of Lordlake was forced to suffer for two years with the majority of its citizens leaving the area until only a handful who were either too young, too old or too stubborn to leave remained.
