Lottery

The lottery is a common gambling game which is found in two variants in the Suikoden series.

The Ticket Lottery (Suikoden III)[]

To play this kind of lottery, you have to buy tickets from a lottery booth. On these tickets are a letter and five numbers. You can choose to buy sequential or random tickets. After your purchase, allow some time to pass and come back at the same place where you bought the tickets to check the results. If one of your tickets has the exact same set of characters as the one displayed on top of the board, you get the jackpot, which is rumored to be infinite money. There are other prizes, mostly potch for various combinations of characters, and a special complimentary prize that is usually an item.

Winning tickets can be cashed-in at any time, but only at the same booth as where you bought them.

The Marble Lottery (Suikoden IV)[]

To play the marble lottery, you need special tickets you can gather while shopping, net-fishing, or dropped by enemies. For a certain amount of potch spent at a shop, the owner will give you fractions or complete lottery tickets. Oddly enough, you can even wear these tickets as head gear. When you want to play the lottery, you give one ticket to a lottery shop owner.

Inside an hexagonal container are gathered a certain number of marbles of five colours. You play this kind of lottery by turning the container for a while and when it slows down, a marble comes out of it. Its colour will determine your prize. The higher the prize, the less marbles of the corresponding colour in the box.
