The Loyalist Army was a group of soldiers and other volunteers who fought against the then-Godwin faction controlled Queendom of Falena, following the Godwin coup d'état at the Sun Palace in SY 449. The army was founded by some of the remains of the dispossessed Falenan monarchy, namely Freyjadour Falenas, who contested the Godwin's use of his sister, Lymsleia Falenas as a puppet Queen following the death of Arshtat Falenas. Though previously allied with the House of Barows, the discovery of the Dawn Rune lead Freyjadour to break off from the Barows family, forming his own faction.
Origins[]
The Loyalist Army was founded by Freyjadour Falenas after his split from the Barows faction. Following the discovery of the previously stolen Dawn Rune in their possession as well as rumours of Salum Barows ambitions to turn Freyjadour into a puppet king for a Barows-controlled Kingdom, the royals left the Barows territories and headed to Raftfleet where they formed their own faction, the Loyalist Army, for the purpose of taking back the Queendom of Falena and restoring Lymsleia Falenas to power.
Though originally based in Raftfleet, the group moved into Ceras Lake Castle following its discovery during a campaign against the Godwin faction.
Growth[]
Following the establishment of Ceras Lake Castle as the headquarters of the Loyalist army, their forces grew rapidly. Several towns came to pledge support behind the prince, especially after the Godwin's more fascist policies, such as the attempted ethnic cleansing of Falena's Beaver and Dwarf populations. The Prince even managed to earn the allegiance of towns that were traditionally fractured from the crown, such as Lordlake as well as the autonomous regions such as Sauronix, following the invasion of New Armes.
At its peak just prior to the overthrow of the Godwin faction, the Loyalist Army commanded several thousand soldiers, yet were still outnumbered by their opponents by a fair margin. Superior tactics and unofficial alliances, however, proved to be the equalizing factors which ultimately allowed the Loyalist Army to emerge victorious.
After the War[]
The Loyalist Army disbanded after regaining the Sun Rune and retaking both Sol-Falena and the Sun Palace, putting all of Falena under Loyalist control. Despite serving their purpose in the war, many of the Loyalist volunteers transferred to the Falenan Army or the Navy. Their headquarters at Ceras Lake were abandoned, cast back into the waters that had once covered the structure.
