During the Dunan Unification War, Riou travelled to Two River to forge an alliance, but was rejected by Makai. When Kiba Windamier went to Two River, he offered a truce. Makai accepted the truce without seeing Kiba's true intention. When General Ridley, the chief of the Kobolds, heard about that, he thought that he was betrayed by the human side. The truce was a trick by Klaus Windamier to cause damage to the friendly relations between the Kobolds and the Humans at Two River.
When Kiba attacked Two River, Makai and his forces had to fight them without the help of the Kobold Warrior. Luckily, Chaco, a Winged Horde member, helped and led the wingers to attack the Highland Army. Soon after, the Kobold Army joined and fought alongside with them and Kiba had no choice but to pull out his troops. After the event in Two River, Makai forged an alliance with the New State Army. After the war, Makai continued as the plenipotentiary for Two River.
