Mantors are a race which appears in Suikoden III. They are large, flying insects that live in nests atop the high cliffs of the Harmonian territory of Le Buque.
Overview[]
History[]
Due to the abilities of the mantors and their riders, though Le Buque are technically third-class citizens of the Harmonian empire, they are given relative autonomy compared to most of Harmonia's conquered lands. Due to their excellent maneuverability and their formidable skills in air combat, Mantors and their riders often are called upon by the Harmonian empire. During the Second Fire Bringer War, the Mantor riders participated in attacks on the Safir Clan and Chisha Village.
Mantors live in nests situated on the rooftops of the houses and buildings of Le Buque, and reproduce by laying eggs. Their needs are cared for by village caretakers, who both feed and exercise the large insects. Little is known about Mantor's behaviour, as this is kept a secret by the Le Buque villagers. Mantors may use their wings in contests against other flying animals, using their large wingspans to frighten other Grassland creatures such as griffins. It is said that this display can be quite frightening. Mantors can often be taken with objects or people, sometimes even bringing them back to their nests in Le Buque, as happened with Harmonian spy Nash Latkje during the Second Fire Bringer War when the Mantor Ruby picked him up and brought him to his nest.
