- The Japanese name for this dish is にくじゃが which directly translates to meat and potatoes. Nikujaga is usually made with a meat (beef or pork depending on the region), along with potatoes, carrots, and onions, that are cooked together in soy sauce, water, and something sweet such as cooking sake, sugar, or mirin. Other vegetables or items are sometimes added. it is a very common dish.
- It has the same Japanese name as the Beef and Potatoes dish that appears in Suikoden III which is also the name for Recipe 9 in that game.
