Mice-catching

Mice Catching

Mice Catching (ねずみ捕り; Nezumitori) is a minigame in Suikoden IV.

Description[]

The guardian of the warehouse in the Nay-Kobold Settlement complains about the number of mice in the warehouse. To help him get rid of the nasty little beasts, Champo is willing to demonstrate his skills of mouse-hunter. The minigame was first introduced during Champo recruitment sidequest, then available at all time after having recruited him.

Note: Champo doesn't need to be in the party to do the minigame.

How to hunt[]

Champo has to run and catch the mice, one by one, and place them into a cage at the back of the warehouse. After surprising and catching the mouse, he has to come back to the cage and aim carefully in order to make the mouse land into the cage. There's a time limit of 99 seconds, which is constant for all options. If Champo hits a wall or any other obstacle in the warehouse, he falls down and loses some time coming to his senses. While running and catching, Champo has to keep an eye on the cage, for the still-free mice will come and try to destroy the cage to release their comrades.

In addition, when the number of mice in the cage increases, they will also try to break the cage from the inside. The only way for Champo to make them stop is to come back near the cage, and thus frighten them. If the cage is broken or if the time is up, Champo has lost. Simply catching the last mouse is enough to win, there is no need to throw it into the cage like the others. And there are rewards for every winning attempt. There are nine levels of difficulty to be chosen from, depending on the surface of the floor and the number of mice to catch.

Floors[]

  • Normal: A normal tiled floor, without any effect on Champo's moves.
  • Shiny: A well-cleaned slick floor, which will induce a slight slipping of Champo's feet.
  • Slippery: An extremely polished floor, on which Champo will seriously slip.

Number of mice[]

  • Average: (3 mice)
  • Large: (6 mice)
  • Extra-Large: (10 mice)
