Mist Shade (ミストシェイド; Misuto Sheido) is a boss in Suikoden II.
Description[]
The North Sparrow Pass has long been associated with the legend of the "Mist Monster." According to one theory, a mage in ancient times conducted a failed experiment, inadvertently creating a connection to a parallel universe. Since then, rumors persist of strange creatures emerging from this otherworldly rift.
In SY 460, sightings were reported of a mysterious entity made of living fog.
Story[]
After escaping the Mercenary Fortress, Riou and Jowy decided to walk through North Sparrow Pass in order to go back home to Kyaro. Upon hearing of the rumours about the fearsome mist monster, they decided to gather a larger group before heading there and ending up helping a group of circus artists in the village of Ryube.
Now in the company of Bolgan, Eilie and Rina, the two friends made their way to the top of the pass. There, Mist Shade appeared and opposed the travelling party. It was a tough fight, but in the end, Riou and his companions managed to vanquish Mist Shade, thanks to their various skills, and could go their way down the pass to reach Kyaro.
As A Boss[]
Mist Shade attack with a vast array of blows and spells, and even transform back and forth between its two shapes. The male version of the monster proved to be a powerful physical fighter, that went so far as to attack two and even three times per turn. After a while, it transformed into its female form and attacked the whole group with a Lightning spell for moderate damage, and with a devastating mist-based spell.
