The Moran Forest (モランの森; Moran no Mori) is a location in Suikoden. The entrance to this great forest is sometimes called the "Forest of Illusion."
Overview[]
The Moran Forest is a thick forest which stretches from the Great Forest Village to the Great Forest Kobold Village.
The "Forest of Illusion," which serves as the entrance to the Great Forest, was once protected by an enchantment of confusion. This barrier spell was cast by Six Elders of the Forest, known as the "Six Sages of the Forest," around the time of the Grand Covenant. The Grand Covenant was an ancient treaty signed between the four races—elves, dwarves, kobolds, and humans. It established territorial boundaries and mutual pledges of non-aggression. Due to this spell and the strict secrecy surrounding the Great Forest region, the existence of non-human races such as Dwarves, Elves, and Kobolds who lived there remained unknown to the outside world.
For a long time, the forest, safeguarded by the spell, was a paradise for animals, free from human intrusion. However, during the Toran Liberation War, the elven Great Tree, Lukiae Ende Towayo, which was the magical key to the barrier, was burned down by Kwanda Rosman using the Burning Mirror. As a result, the enchantment was broken, and humans have increasingly started entering the forest.
Kirkis, the newly appointed chief of the elven village, is striving for coexistence between humans and elves. However, the path ahead remains challenging.
