After meeting L'aquila, the Hero traveled to Perie Forest to learn more about what happened with her. There, the Hero met Nikumba and Lete. Although the story was about her, Lete asked Nikumba to tell the Hero about it, as she was not confident should would be able to.
Nikumba told the Hero about the Refiant, and that Lete was the last one. L'aquila blamed herself for the refiant dying, as she made the magic stones they used that reduced their lifespans. After telling L'aquila about Lete, he again returned to Perie Forest chasing after L'aquila. He found her apologizing profusely, explaining her thoughts to Lete. When she continued, the Hero became angry and told her that what L'aquila was saying meant that what everyone did was wrong. Nikumba agreed and said that L’aquila's words were an insult to everyone who fought in the war.
Later, the Hero brought Zephon to meet Lete. She knew that he was a magician and wanted to know if he would accept her skill. The Hero tried to stop her by reminding her that she would need to use magic a number of times to teach him. Nimuba agreed, saying that she should consider her life expectancy. But Lete would not listen to them, claiming that they were exaggerating and she would be fine. After fighting some of the nearby enemies, Zephon was able to master her skill. Once the Hero and his party left, Nikumba asked if, sensing her death, she came to the forest to spend the rest of her life in quiet. Lete responded that when she saw the Hero and his friends her feelings changed. Just waiting to die was not fun, and she saw someone who looked like they could learn her magic. She commented that was possible Zephon knew she was tired so he said they should hurry and go home. Although Nikumba thought that Zephon was someone they could not understand, Lete believed that maybe Nikumba understood Zephon a little.
Nikumba later told the Hero that he would like to hear about curse stones in the future, so the Hero brought along the makers in his group. When he met Utze, Utze asked if he could call him an old sage. Nikumba commented that it made him feel a little embarrassed. He told him to call him whatever he wanted. Nikumba was able to pass his skill quikcly. Utze thanked him in his usual fashion and Nikumba remarked that there was such a cheerful person handling these stones in the future. Utze asked if he wasn't pleased by it, furthering that he was often told he wasn't like a typical curse stone maker. Nikumba said it was fine and that there was no rule that those involved with curse stones should always have a grave look. No matter their appearance, those who make good stones are for sure good craftsmen. Utze was pleased and said he must be diligent. Without excellent stones you don't have a good position.
When meeting Gwiney, he was surprised that the Hero had a member of the Feather Tribe among his companions. He furthered that the members of this tribe, who are kind and hate fighting, would also be involved in the battle. He apologized though as he did not mean to be rude or reproach Gwiney, but instead that the courage and determination of the Feather Tribe was beyond doubt. They cleared up their misunderstandings, and he passed his skill to Gwiney, with Gwiney commenting it was very precise. Nikumba said that he was very satisfied that he would be able to be even a little help to the brave Feather Tribe.
He would also later tell the Hero about the Yuga People. He told the Hero that the Yuga homeland was destroyed, and it was the origin of ninjutsu and sorcery. He explained that some of his brethren were trying to teach Yuga techniques to the Aionians in order to leave them for posterity. One of those people was Narcia, the leader of the Yuga who was also an excellent shaman. He offered to introduce the Hero to him, hoping that they could learn one of the skills.
