North Sparrow Pass (燕北の峠; Enhoku no Touge) is a location in Suikoden II.
Overview[]
Located near the border between the Highland Kingdom and City-States of Jowston. The pathway is the closest way to travel between Kyaro Town from Ryube Village. It is one of the few routes between Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston.
The mountains are filled with fog, and there is a spring that heals wounds. Monsters and bandits roam about and legend has it that an evil Mist Monster lurks in the shadows. According to one theory, a mage in ancient times conducted a failed experiment, inadvertently creating a connection to a parallel universe. Since then, rumors persist of strange creatures emerging from this otherworldly rift.
Story[]
Riou, Jowy, Rina, Eilie and Bolgan traveled together to North Sparrow Pass in order to go to Kyaro. However, the soldiers guarding the area would not let them pass. Rina proceeded to use her sex appeal to trick the guards into letting them pass. Upon nearing the end of the mountains, the Mist Shade appeared and the group fought and defeated it.
After these events, the pass was closed for the duration of the Dunan Unification War. It was reopened after the victory over the Highland forces, making the North Sparrow Pass a part of the Dunan Republic.

Trivia[]
- Make sure to examine the pond/well here. It will restore your HP and MP.
- The Japanese name is 燕北の峠 which literally translates to Swallow North Pass. The type of bird was changed from swallow to sparrow for the English version of the game.
- The reading used for this kanji, however, uses the onyomi. The onyomi does not come from the name of the bird, but instead is based on the kanji used for an old city-state in China in what is now Hebei Province. It is also used in the names of several figures from Chinese history, as well as provinces in various historical periods in China.
