Pahn | |
"Whether it's battling bandits on Mt. Seifu or monsters on Lake Toran, Pahn here's your man." |
Pahn is the Tentai Star in Suikoden.
He also appears in Suikoden II.
Profile[]
Background[]
He is a servant to Teo McDohl and his son, Tir McDohl.
Appearance[]
Pahn is a strong built man, with enormous muscles. He has black short hair and wears a bandana. He wears short sleeved red shirt, shoulder pads with only one side, loose pants sustained with red belt, red and black gauntlets and black sandals. His weapon of choice is his fists.
Personality[]
Pahn is a brute who is concerned mainly in fighting and food. At the beginning of Suikoden, he firmly believed in the good of the empire and didn't wanted to betray Teo, but after some events passed, he decided to fight for what he believed in and followed Tir in his fight against the empire.
Story[]
Before Gate Rune Wars[]
Before the Gate Rune Wars, Pahn served in the McDohl household as a bodyguard. He traveled with Tir during his Young Master's time as a soldier of the Scarlet Moon Empire.
Gate Rune Wars (Suikoden I)[]
When Ted returns injured from the castle after a mission to Rockland, Pahn fetches the Imperial guards. He did so because he truly believed the Empire to not be as corrupt as the rumors made it seem. For Pahn, it was his home and the home of the man he swore his life and allegiance to.
He refused to believe Windy was as evil, twisted as she later revealed herself to be. Futhermore, he never thought the Empire would really bring any harm to his friends. After the events with Ted's transfer of the Soul Eater to Tir, Pahn remained with the Empire while Tir fled Gregminster as a fugitive.
Later in Kouan, Pahn, still under the command of the recently reassigned commander Kraze, was ordered to capture Tir and Lepant while Kraze held Eileen hostage. Pahn stated that he didn't regreted his decision in Gregminster, but decided to really follow his heart this time, and realizing how wicked is Kraze, he turned back against his commander, rushed toward him and beat him, freeing Eileen in the process. Following the events, He rejoined Tir and became a member of the Liberation Army.
When Tir's army inevitably confronts Teo's army, they're routed, and Pahn remains behind to buy Tir time by dueling with Teo. The result of the duel also determines Pahn's fate. After the war, should he win the duel, Pahn embarks on a journey to improve his imperfect self. Regardless of the outcome, Pahn will make an appearance in Suikoden II, meaning that even if the duel is lost, Teo spared his life.
Dunan Unification War (Suikoden II)[]
If the player load a perfect save from Suikoden I, with all the 108 stars of destiny recruited, Pahn will make an appearance during the Banner sidequest on Gregminster.
After rescuing Ko and his subsequent healing by Liukan, Pahn will return from his journey to greet his old Master Tir. Afterwards he'll spend the rest of the game in Gregminster in the McDohl household.
Role in the Game[]
Pahn joins Tir when spoken to after the events in Kouan. At a later point in the game, Pahn must duel Teo McDohl. If Pahn is defeated in the duel, then he will be technically killed in the story. The player must keep his weapon properly sharpened and have Pahn higher than level 30 with good equipment in order to increase the possibility of winning the duel.
Pahn is a slow but otherwise great front line fighter, and his Boar Rune does decent damage to one enemy, but unbalances him after using it. His best asset is his synergy with different party combinations. Pahn has three different Unite attacks he can participate in, all of which have powerful fighters involved for high damage potential.

Trivia[]
- Pahn somehow manages to make an appearance in Suikoden II even if Pahn lost the duel to Teo. Though the first game would render him as "Dead", it is unknown what really happened to him between that duel and Suikoden II, if he lost. Canonically Pahn won allowing Leknaat to resurrect Gremio.
- Keep Pahn in your active party members as he will take part in a battle against Teo Mcdohl.
- In Suikoden II Pahn is still living in the McDohl mansion with Cleo. He's on a journey to improve himself but, comes back during the Banner sidequest to meet Tir and because he ran out of money.
- Pahn has the most unique Unite attack combinations in the game with three separate unite attacks he can participate in.
- Pahn is the only character besides McDohl who can participate in a duel.
