Rainwall is a location in Suikoden V.
Overview[]
As the home of the House of Barows and one of the largest towns in eastern Falena, Rainwall functions as not only a major hub of trade in Falena's population, but also a city of great political importance. Befitting its rulers tastes, Rainwall is a city of great beauty, with waterfalls cascading from throughout it and a large, open, tiled main street decorated with statues of prominent Barows leaders. The city is quite wealthy, and its citizens are most ardently proud of their prosperity. Despite its relative proximity to New Armes, the city is not fortified.
The Barows clan are closely associated with Rainwall, so much so that the populace views them as celebrities. Their loyalty to the clan is almost blinding in its absoluteness, as the family rules the city almost with a cult of personality; however, once Salum Barows was murdered during the later stages of the Falenan Civil War, people have come to see the Barows clan in a less awe-inspiring light.
The town was captured by Godwin forces during the war and was only liberated towards the end of the conflict. During that time, numerous atrocities had been committed in the town by vengeful Godwin troops. In fact, some of the inhabitants were reduced to insanity by their previous fanaticism.
Barows Mansion[]
Located at the peak of the town itself, Barows Mansion was once home to the prominent Barows' family. During the early battles of the Falenan Civil War, the mansion served as a convenient meeting house for prominent members of the Barows' army, such as general Boz Wilde and Prince Freyjadour Falenas. Zerase had sensed the Dawn Rune being somehwere nearby in the city, but was unable to locate it on her own. She appeared suddenly before the Prince when the rune was brought out of hiding. Following this major political scandal where it was revealed that Salum Barows had stolen and hidden the Dawn Rune during the Lordlake Rebellion, the Prince's faction severed its ties to the Barows clan, and those loyal to the prince followed, including Luserina Barows, Salum's daughter, and Chuck, a family servant. Following this, the Barows clan continued to use it a base until an invasion by Godwin troops forced them under house arrest during the later stages of the war. Following Salum Barow's murder and the end of the war, Luserina Barows donated the estate to the national restoration effort.
