During the Island Liberation War, Ugetsu was trying to catch a fish using a fishing rod, instead of a fish Ugetsu caught Shiramine. He joined the Island Liberation Navy and he often casts his net, catching fish. He thinks that Lazlo has a problem, because Lazlo is working hard. He heard a lot of stories of Ugetsu leading him to admire Ugetsu and regarding him as a genius. After the war, he went to Razril to become a fishing instructor, teaching Tal how to fish, and fishing with him every day.
