Showdown with the Kibas (キバ親子の決着; Kiba Oyako no Kecchaku), also known as the Second Headquarters Defense Battle (Showdown with Kibas) (第二次本拠地防衛戦(キバとの対決); Dainiji Honkyochi Bouei-sen (Kiba to no Taiketsu)), is an army battle in Suikoden II.
Description[]
Following the loss and retreat after The Defense of South Window, the New State Army struggled to regroup.
The Highland Army, who had began advancing from South Window, moved toward the New State Army's headquarters. Shu devised a new strategy: splitting the army in two and using one half as an ambush force to encircle the Highland Army. This would create four units that could hopefully encircle Kiba's forces. Though some expressed doubts about the plan, Shu confidently stated, “Kiba and his son will not break my strategy.” The meaning behind Shu’s words became clear during the second clash.
The Highland Army charged directly at the main force, ignoring the possibility of an ambush. However, Ridley's supposedly defected Kobold unit reappeared and launched a surprise attack from the rear, surrounding Kiba’s forces. Completely caught off guard by the appearance of Ridley's unit, Kiba suffered a total defeat in this battle.
Upon seeing the tide turn, Rowd’s unit, perceiving the unfavorable conditions, retreated from the field. This thoroughly laid plan, one that even deceived allies, and Rowd’s cowardice ultimately secured victory for the New State Army.
In Game[]
After a few turns, Ridley Wizen along with two other Kobold units, will appear. The Highland troops stationed in the north, with Rowd, stay on standby and do not attack. They will leave when Leon Silverberg arrives and orders them to withdraw.

Notes[]
The Genso Suikoden Kiwami Daijiten says that Kiba was leading the 4th division. However, other sources say that he was leading the third. including the article about him in the same book. In game, Rowd says, "Listen up, you grunts. Don't think you can slack off with me just because I'm a stand-in, are we clear? All right, now that we have that out of the way, hold your positions. The 3rd Army will take the lead." Rowd was acting as a stand-in for Jowy, who had taken over lead of the 4th army after the death of Solon Jhee.
