The Six Great Generals is a military title given to the six most elite and highly recognized officers within the military of the Toran Republic. This status and title existed in the same format under the Scarlet Moon Empire as well. Most of the Six Great Generals were given their titles following the Succession War by the Scarlet Moon Emperor, Barbarossa Rugner. Shortly after this, one recipient of the title, Georg Prime, left the country, leaving the group known as the "Five Great Generals" until after the formation of the Toran Republic, where President Lepant named new additions, to replace those fallen. Due to the prestige of their title and the faith in their skills which it conveys, Great Generals often served as regional magistrates.
The original Six Great Generals, as appointed after the Succession War, were: Georg Prime, Kasim Hazil, Kilawher Shulen, Kwanda Rosman, Milich Oppenheimer and Teo McDohl. Following Georg's departure, no replacement was named although Kilawher Shulen's position was replaced with that of her daughter, Sonya Shulen, following her death. For some reason, another known general, Ain Gide, is not counted among them.
Following the formation of the Toran Republic, three new appointments were made by President Lepant to replace those that had died or retired. While Kasim Hazil, Sonya Shulen and Kwanda Rosman kept their positions, Milich Oppenheimer retired and Teo McDohl was killed during the course of the Toran Liberation War. As such, Liberation Army officers Camille, Kai and Valeria were appointed, returning the number to the original six.
