Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars is a remaster compilation of Suikoden and Suikoden II set to be released worldwide for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam) and Xbox One. The game was officially revealed on September 16, 2022 during the Tokyo Game Show 2022. At the Nintendo Direct on August 27, 2024, a new trailer was shown, with a release date set for March 6, 2025.
It is the second time these two titles were bundled together after Genso Suikoden I & II, although the previous compilation offered only minor updates and was never released outside Japan.
Description[]
The compilation will feature several enhancements, including new artwork for all character portraits in Suikoden, all drawn by Junko Kawano. The portraits in Suikoden II will remain the same but will be updated to HD. Backgrounds in both games will be upgraded to HD with more details, particularly in Suikoden, to better match those in Suikoden II. Additionally, both world maps will be completely redrawn in 3D. Battle backgrounds and spell effects will also be enhanced. The protagonist [[Tir]] from Suikoden now has a running animation, which was omitted in the previous compilation, although diagonal sprites were implemented.
It will also include new and HD Sound effects for both exploration and battle modes. Translations for both games will also be revised to match more the original Japanese content.
Among other features include the possibility to Fast Forward the battles, an Auto-Save feature, a Town Minimap and a Conversation Log.
The trailer from Nintendo Direct on August 27, 2024, showed options for battle speeds to be at 2x or 4x.
Additionally, on the same day as the game release, the original soundtrack titled Suikoden I & II Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars Original Soundtrack will be released. There will also be a Blu-ray titled Symphonic Poem from Genso Suikoden with Animation Music Video Special Set, which captures the full orchestral concert held in October 2022.

Japanese Pre-order Bonus[]
A limited edition version of the game was made available on August 28, 2024 in Japan.
It includes an acrylic board set. Size: Approximately 148 × 210 mm
The set includes two acrylic boards, each featuring designs from Suikoden I and Suikoden II:
- Suikoden II: Features illustrations of the three childhood friends from their younger years.
- Suikoden I: Will include new artwork created by Junko Kawano.
If the game is purchased on Konami Style, a clear file will also be included.
Notes[]
The game will also be available in other languages besides Japanese and English; French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese. Although the original Suikoden II had official translations available for these countries, Suikoden however was released only in English in the Pal Regions, so it will be a first.
