SII Tengaar Portrait2 Tengaar
"By the way, the name of your sword... Really, using my name without asking..."

Tengaar is the Tensui Star in Suikoden and Suikoden II.
She also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 1.

Profile[]

Background[]

Tengaar is the daughter of the chief of the Warrior's Village, Zorak. She is a descendant of Klift and was raised and spoiled by her father. Her Tsundere attitude tends to make her treat her boyfriend like a slave.

Appearance[]

Tengaar has long brown-red hair and brown eyes and wear a blue ribbon. She also wears a yellow dress and has white boots. Her weapon of choice are throwing knifes.

Personality[]

Story[]

Suikoden I[]

Tengaar spent her time in peace at Warrior's Village before being kidnapped by Neclord. Tir McDohl, Viktor, and Hix combined their efforts to rescue her from Neclord's Castle. This prompted her to join the Toran Liberation Army along with Hix.

Suikoden II[]

After the liberation of Gregminster, Tengaar continued to travel with Hix on his journey to manhood, a tradition of their village. This lead to her meeting Riou in Lakewest, who followed the pair south from Two River to Kobold Village. There, Tengaar learned of the Test of the Unicorn, which she thought was a great opportunity for Hix to speed up his growth. As such, Tengaar faked her illness convincing the Kobold Chief to restart the Unicorn Test after it being halted for many years. Hix, believing she was sick from this test, went out in search of the necessary items to keep her alive, with help from Riou and company.

It was later revealed that she had tricked them so Hix can prove himself, however, a Unicorn by the name of Sigfried did really appear and threatened to take Tengaar if Hix couldn't show his valor. Hix displayed his courage, causing Sigfried to vanish and thus saving Tengaar from once again being kidnapped. In payment for Riou's help, she joined in the war against Highland with her boyfriend. To this day after the war, she travels with Hix, hoping he will propose her in marriage.

Role in the Game[]

Automatically joins after rescuing her from Neclord's Castle.

Tengaar is a very underrated character. She has above-average magic ability and a long ranged weapon which makes her ideal for a backline magician. Equipping her with an elemental rune and sharpening her weapon can make her a very valuable member on your team.

Joins with Hix after completing the Unicorn Test sidequest in Lakewest and Kobold Village.

Tengaar can be a very valuable asset to your team, especially against Luca Blight. With 2 available rune slots, she can be an amazing support mage. With a Mother Earth Rune and a Flowing Rune, she can spam heals, buffs, and dish out some damage with Earthquake.

Unlike most Mages, her weapon is L-ranged, which makes her being a backrow magician just a bit better.

  • Secret: #1

Name: Tengaar
Age: 18
From: Warrior's Village, Toran Republic
Position: Infantry Soldier
Note: Travelling with Hix

  • Secret: #2

"She's the daughter of the village chief of Warrior's Village. She and Hix have known each other since they were kids and now they're a couple. Also, it looks like she's had a run-in with Neclord in the past."

  • Secret: #3

"Well, she's a cute girl, but she worries too much. She thinks she's doing everything for Hix's sake."

  • Secret: #4
"After Hix's journey is over, she wants to go back to Warrior's Village and get married right away."

  • Please

Please Lord Riou, Please make Hix into a true warrior.

  • That Boy!

That Hix just won't do his training everyday likes he's supposed too. Hell never become a warrior that way.

  • My Plans
I'm planning to marry Hix when he gets back to our village. You'll be invited too of course.

"She makes her poor henpecked mate go fishing everyday for her. It's Tengaar!!!"

Trivia[]

  • In Suikoden II, she will Berserk if Hix runs out of HP.
  • Visual design and behavior-wise she resembles Lina Inverse from the Slayers franchise a lot, especially so in the second game.
  • Like Rina who upgraded her Fire Rune into a Rage Rune, Tengaar's Earth Rune can be upgraded permanently into the Mother Earth Rune as the rune itself is a reward given by Gustav Pendragon after the events in Tinto. (Can also be found in Gregminster rare finds runemaster shop)
  • Her name seems to be somehow influenced by Tengri, a Mongolian god of the sky. In modern Mongolian, Tenger (which is derived from Tengri) means "sky".
