The Defense of South Window (サウスウィンドゥ防衛戦; Sausuwindo Boueisen), also known as the Battle of Radat (ラダト攻防戦; Radato Koubousen), was an army battle in Suikoden II.
Description[]
Having gained the support of Camus and Miklotov, former elite knights of the Matilda Knightdom, and others who shared their ideals, the New State Army significantly increased its military strength. However, soon after, the town of Radat was occupied by the Highland Army’s Third Army, led by the father-son duo Kiba Windamier and Klaus Windamier.
With enough strength to stand toe-to-toe with the Highland Army, the New State Army, under Shu’s strategy, decided to forgo tactics and launch a straightforward frontal assault. They deployed forces in and around the city. Kiba was there with his Third Army, while Rowd was there as a stand-in, leading the 4th.
In the initial clash, the New State Army fought well, but midway through the battle, Ridley Wizenobjected to the formation, saying he didn't like the arrangement. He eventually declared that humans couldn't be trusted, and then withdrew on his own accord, the kobold units following suit. It threw the New State Army's formation into disarray. With no other option, the New State Army retreated to their home base.
This battle was soon followed by the Showdown with the Kibas.

Notes[]
The Genso Suikoden Kiwami Daijiten says that Kiba was leading the 4th division. However, other sources say that he was leading the third. including the article about him in the same book. In game, Rowd says, "Listen up, you grunts. Don't think you can slack off with me just because I'm a stand-in, are we clear? All right, now that we have that out of the way, hold your positions. The 3rd Army will take the lead." Rowd was acting as a stand-in for Jowy, who had taken over lead of the 4th army after the death of Solon Jhee.
