The Underground Ruins (地底の遺跡), also known as 古代遺跡(Kodai Iseki, literally “Ancient Ruins”) are a location in Suikoden V.
Overview[]
The Underground Ruins are the remains of an ancient city discovered deep beyond the Big Hole that suddenly opened in the northeastern region of the Queendom of Falena. The ruins are believed to predate even the height of the Sindar civilization, suggesting a far older origin. Based on their structure, some scholars theorize that they are remnants of a massive temple complex belonging to the ancient Armes Dynasty.
The ruins were uncovered through the guidance of Jeane and Eresh within the vast underground space beyond the Big Hole. Their appearance bears a resemblance to the vision shown to the Prince by the Dawn Rune at the Ceras Lake Ruins, though any direct connection between the two remains unknown. Following the war, Eresh (one of the True Runes’ Stars of Destiny) vanished, and it is said that no one has seen the Underground Ruins since.

Notes[]
- According to the official Japanese guidebook, players are advised to prepare an Escape Talisman (すり抜けの札) before entering the Underground Ruins, as the area is accessed through the Big Hole and does not allow for an immediate exit.
- Some external wikis list alternative Japanese names for this location. However, this wiki uses 地底の遺跡 (Underground Ruins), as this name is consistently attested in Japanese guidebooks and in-game text. No reliable Japanese source has been found that supports the alternative naming used elsewhere.
- The Genso Suikoden Kiwami Daijiten lists this location under the broader heading 古代遺跡(こだいいせき, “Ancient Ruins”). This term is not used as in game or in the guidebook.
