Viktor | |
"Anyone feel like dying today? Step forward. I'll fight until my heart stops!" |
Viktor is the Tenko Star in Suikoden and Suikoden II.
He also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 1 e Genso Suikoden Short Stories Volume 1.
Profile[]
Background[]
Viktor used to live in the town of North Window in the Jowston City-States Region with his mother and grandmother, as his father lost his life at a war. His family adopted a girl named Daisy, and had plans to unite Viktor and her as a couple. One day, at the behest of his grandmother, he had the duty to go buy medicine in South Window, and escaped from being slaughtered along with the rest of his village by an attack of the vampire Neclord. He returned to try and face Neclord, and would have died if wasn't for the Sacrificial Jizo that Daisy had given him. Almost dead, he was taken in by Barbara in Kuskus, who was also from his hometown. After being nursed back to health, he trained vigorously to turn into a formidable swordsman, and on his search for vengeance, earning money working as a mercenary, he eventually falls in with Odessa and Flik and the start of the Liberation Army.
Appearance[]
Viktor is a muscular build man with shoulder length black hair in a ragged style (brown in his in-game appearance in the first Suikoden) with full fringes, tanned skin and black eyes.
In both Suikoden and Suikoden II, he is mostly seen wearing a pale yellow tunic, which the sleeves are ripped in both sides to make it sleeveless, with a brown upper breast armor. It has an extended collar with a brown belt that was tucked into his tunic, and an extra belt which is gray and brown, which tied along with a small sack at the left side of his waist, black pants, and brown boots. He also wears brown gloves.
Personality[]
In both of his appearances in Suikoden and Suikoden II, Viktor can be seen as being a brave and confident person but is also short tempered and arrogant when others are trying to mock him or bribing the guards in order to make an exit in Gregminster. This also shown in Suikoden II during the first and second bath scene with Riou and Flik, which the latter tells him that Riou is better than he is and also mocks him as a 'fatso'.
When his people are killed by Neclord in his hometown at North Window, which becomes the Allied Army's headquarters three years later, Viktor also shows his vengeful ways and rage towards Neclord who wants to avenge his friends and loved ones by killing him. He finally kills Neclord during Suikoden II after the latter was trapped by Kahn Marley and later Sierra Mikain by retrieving her Moon Rune from him.
At some point during the war, Viktor is able to distract the enemy in various occasions and he can be seen as a hypocrite and an idiot to make Riou and the others escape by using the Fire Spears to blow up the boiler to destroy their own fortress and to distract Luca Blight to save Pilika from being killed, which she ends up being mute for most of the rest of the game.
Later, he uses Pilika as a means to distract both Jowy and Leon Silverberg to rescue both Riou and Teresa Wisemail and to escape in Muse, after revealing the peace treaty turns out to be a trap made by them. Despite the distraction made by him, Pilika ends up being adopted by Jowy as she regains her voice.
In his official profile in the remastered version depicts Viktor as a mercenary leader who is a warm-hearted person and has a mysterious charm to attract many people, which indicates to show his attraction and feelings towards women like Daisy and Anabelle who were later killed by his enemies (Neclord and Jowy respectively).
Story[]
Suikoden I[]
During the Gate Rune Wars, Viktor helped Tir McDohl and his servants to escape the town of Gregminster after they got accused of being traitors. Viktor first meets up with the party at the inn in Gregminster. He saves them from an unwanted encounter with the Imperial Guards, thanking them also for clearing his debt at the inn by giving him an excuse to leave. He walks away from the party until they talk to him once more, asking him for a way out. He promises to get them out but only if they promise to accept his request to meet someone. With the party in tow, Viktor brings them to Gregminster's exit, wherein the party successfully manages to escape the Imperial Guard. Cleo asks Viktor how he managed to pass by the Imperial Guard, with the latter mentioning that he bribed them to get passage, citing corruption as an existing problem within the city. Gremio wonders how Viktor managed payment for the bribe until Viktor returns his wallet. He then reminds Tir of the promise he made, now telling the party that they must go to Lenankamp.
Upon arriving at Lenankamp, Viktor tells the party that he's going to make some arrangements, leaving them by their lonesome until they decide to rest at the Inn. Viktor then introduced Tir to Odessa, in hopes that he would help the Liberation Army against the corrupt Scarlet Moon Empire. After a sudden attack on the Liberation Army hideout of Lenankamp, Tir turned into the leader of the Liberation Army. with Viktor backing him all the way, even when Flik was against the idea.
Later, at the region of Lorimar, Viktor once again ran into Neclord, now one of the Six Great Generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Being unable to even wound him, Viktor found that, as a creature of the night, Neclord could only be destroyed by the reincarnation of the Night Rune, known as the Celestial Sword. Venturing inside the Cave of the Past, Viktor found the sword, and used it to dispose of Neclord. He then asked Tir if he could visit North Window to deliver the news of Neclord's death on the graves of the villagers, but got captured in the process by the General Kasim Hazil.
After being rescued by Tir and other members of the Liberation Army and helping conquer the fortress of Shasarazade, a siege was set on Gregminster. Viktor, alongside Flik, aided Tir in the battle inside the Gregminster Palace. After the battle, the palace started to crumble, and Viktor and Flik decided to stay and cover Tir's escape. After that, they were considered "Missing in Action".
Suikoden II[]

After Muse was captured by Highland, he and Flik are taking refuge at South Window before reuniting with Riou, Nanami and Pilika. Alongside with them is Eilie, Rina and Bolgan which he remarks Riou for bringing beautiful women by his side until they visit the mayor of South Window, Granmeyer. When he let Flik to stay at South Window with Rina and Bolgan. He decides to revisit his hometown at North Window with Riou, Nanami and Eilie. Arriving at North Window which it becomes a ghost town. They were confronted by Neclord as their fight becomes a futile when Neclord uses his Doppelganger technique as he escapes. Viktor becomes helpless after he is unable to kill him. With no other choice, he decides to find the Celestial Sword at the Cave of the Wind.
During their search at the Cave of the Wind, they encountered Kahn Marley a vampire hunter who is also searching for Neclord and decides to aid them to their cause. As they found the Celestial Sword, the sword itself scolds Viktor for abandoning him which it becomes hostile. After defeating the sword, Viktor obtains it and wants to kill Neclord once and for all. They returned to North Window to find Neclord until they confront him who is playing the organ. Neclord attempts to taunt Viktor in how to save his friend Daisy. Viktor angrily slashes the girl's head after seeing that it was a fake and Neclord becomes mad for his actions he summoned the Abomination before escaping. After defeating the Abomination his hometown at North Window becomes the Allied Army's Headquarters before Flik, Apple, Rina and Bolgan arrive to tell the news of Granmeyer's execution which he was executed by Solon Jhee as Viktor continues to aid everyone in the war battles and to participate along with Flik in the nightraid against Luca Blight.
After Luca's defeat at the hands of Riou in the nightraid, Viktor goes along with Riou and Nanami in Tinto to meet its mayor Gustav Pendragon, who refuses to join the war after the meetings in Muse by the late Anabelle due to being anti-alliance with them to think they are weak-willed. Viktor encounters Neclord and his zombie minions for the second time after he defeated the Abomination that he summoned previously at North Window to escape while being confronted by Jess and Hauser, along with Muse soldiers who are unforgiving to Riou after Anabelle's death despite Jowy was behind the murder. When Tinto has been attacked by Neclord, he, with Riou and the others, retreated and took refuge at Crom Village. They later went to Tigermouth, where they encountered Sierra Mikain, who wanted to retrieve her Moon Rune from Neclord.
When they revisited Tinto using a secret passage and its mines to get inside, they discovered Neclord is trying to victimize Gustav's daughter Lilly Pendragon and Koyu and Gijimu's sister, Lo Wen, who protects Lilly and herself from him inside the church.
With the help of Kahn Marley, who traps Neclord with his rune seal magic, Viktor has a chance to kill Neclord with the use of the Celestial Sword. Upon defeated by Riou and his group, Sierra urges Neclord to give her Moon Rune back. As he successfully returns it to her, Neclord then begged to keep himself alive and to be free from being trapped. Viktor finally kills Neclord with one strike from his Celestial Sword and finally avenges the people, including Daisy, that he killed three years ago in North Window, which later becomes the Allied Army's Headquarters.
After Neclord is defeated, he later aids Shu by making a trap to create forest fires to kill most of the Highland soldiers and to force both Seed and Culgan in retreat to face off Leon Silverberg. After the two strategist's confrontation, he saves Shu soon after reuniting with Riou and Apple to take part of the final battle in L'Renouille, the capital of Highland.
Post Suikoden III[]
In the end of Dunan Unification War, Viktor departs Dunan with Flik on an aimless journey. Viktor and Flik come to a village that has been attacked by vampires, where they meet a boy named Edge. Viktor loans Edge the Celestial Sword so the boy can help with slaying the vampires to rescue his sister, who had been kidnapped. Viktor leaves the Celestial Sword in Edge's care when he and Flik depart back for Dunan to fight against Harmonia in the Higheast Rebellion.
Role in the Game[]
Viktor joins Tir automatically after leaving Gregminster.
Viktor will be a required member in the party often. Fortunately he's a great attacking character, who also ends up with high HP as he gets into higher levels.

Viktor can equip the Clone Rune found on Mt. Tigerwolf. This is the only place the rune is available, and any character who wields a heavy sword can use it, but with the frequency that Viktor is in the battle party and how early on it is available, it tends to be a good idea to put it on Viktor and leave it there. The Killer Rune is also a nice alternative in the later stages, due to Viktor's critical hits being capable of outdamaging the Clone Rune ability when his levels get high enough. It is also suggested to embed a Fire Rune Piece or Lightning Rune Piece to his sword. Just like any other non-magic character, Viktor benefits most from equipping him with a Fury Rune and Double Beat Rune, turning him into a powerhouse.

Viktor automatically joins in South Window.
Viktor is one of the better physical attack characters, and has a good HP, high strength growth and decent enough survivability. He makes an extremely solid front line character once he joins the party. Viktor wields his 2 handed sword until he once again reunites with the Celestial Sword.

Viktor does well with the Titan Rune, which replaces the Clone Rune from the first Suikoden. He only gains 2 rune slots, but it is a huge upgrade from one in Suikoden 1. His weak magic abilities make combat enhancing runes, like the Warrior Rune, a recommended choice. That said, he is one of the very few physical warriors that gain 2 Rune slots. With that, he can take full advantage of the exceptionally powerful physical rune set of Double Beat Rune and Double Strike Rune or the Fury Rune or Violence Rune. A rune attached to his weapon like a Friendship Rune is recommended or the Exertion Rune which will make Viktor in prolonged battles even more effective. With the right setup of his runes, Viktor possibly has the potential to be one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, physical attackers in the game.

Name:Viktor

From:North Window
Position:Infantry Captain
His hometown was destroyed by that Neclord guy. That's why he's always travelling. It seems he was on an errand in South Window when Neclord came, and so he was the only survivor.
When Viktor got back to his village, everyone had been turned into bloodthirsty zombies. They were all eating each other. Blech!
I don't know exactly who that Daisy girl was. Maybe his little sister, maybe his lover... There's no one left to tell me and Viktor ain't talking either...
Yo! How ya doin? No message in particular just thought I'd say hi!
"With an appetite like a bear, he'll eat anything and love it. It's Viktor!!!"
