Wang first appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 2 and then in Suikoden III, where he adopted the name Joker.
He is also the Chitai Star in Suikoden III.

Wang is a skilled martial artist who is also a special ops agent for the Harmonian Southern Frontier Defense Force (HSFDF). He is senior to Nash and throughout their time in the HSFDF often forced Nash to drink with him. Through such bonding he came to consider Nash like a surrogate younger brother, giving him a hard time like brothers tend to do.
To aid to his martial art skills he carries iron massage balls in his hands to increase the force of his punches.
During the events of Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 2 when Nash was arrested on arriving in Caleria, Wang was ordered to guard Nash's personal effects. During Nash's escape, the two encountered and Wang challenged Nash. It didn't take long for Wang to begin over powering Nash with his skills. However, when the sun began to rise Wang suddenly stopped his attacks and declared that his guard shift was complete, concluding the battle.
Wang had been ordered to leave for a mission in the Grasslands, thus no longer needing to guard Nash's equipment. Upon inspection Nash noticed his gunpowder had been replenished, knives sharpened and his spring gun oiled. Before departing, Wang told Nash to take care.
He joined the Twelfth Unit of the HSFDF under Geddoe, and changed his name to Joker as a disguise. He was among the first in the unit to notice Geddoe acting strangely during the Second Fire Bringer War and his name being mentioned in records from the First Fire Bringer War, which led to it finally being revealed that their leader was one-hundred and twelve years old and the bearer of the True Lightning Rune.

The Rage Rune is recommended to upgrade his Fire Rune and since he gets a head rune slot at Lv. 55 and is one of the few characters to have the Pale Gate Magic Skill, so a Pale Gate Rune is a good choice to give him more magical power. In a physical build, giving him a Killer Rune or a Fury Rune helps in his damage output.
