Wendel is the Chitai Star in Suikoden IV.
She is also a playable character in Suikoden Tactics.

Background[]
Wendel is a young woman who wanted to be a look out when she grows up and she wanted to learn all sorts of things from Nico. She always says the first thing that comes to her mind.
Appearance[]
She has medium length hair and freckles, as well as dark eyes and tanned skin. She wears a revealing outfit, with a long yellow jacket which she leaves open in the front. She has blond hair and also wears a brown hat.
Personality[]
Wendel is quite bold and will basically say what's on her mind, and often teases Nico.
Story[]
Suikoden IV[]
During the Island Liberation War, Wendel admire Nico's sense of sight and she joins the Island Liberation Navy to become Nico's apprentice. While on board on the Dauntless, she wanted Nico to treat her as a full pledge apprentice but Nico already said that he doesn't need any apprentice. After the war, she continue her studies and she was determined to prove that she knows more than Nico.
Suikoden Tactics[]
At the Fall of Kooluk, she was sent by Lino En Kuldes, to help Kyril on his research about the Rune Cannon. One night, she had a talk with Kyril and Eugene and she told Kyril what she had on her mind. After the fighting ends, no one knows what happened to Wendel.
Role in the Game[]
Despite what her weapon type would make you believe, Wendel is actually better suited for magic, and can make for a very solid mage at that. Her magic stat can rival and even surpasses the likes of Viki, Katarina, or Konrad, while also have higher than usual defensive stats for most mages. Her weapon type also allows her to deal average physical damage if you skip the magic.
To top it all, she comes with 3 rune slots open, allowing her her great versatility. She has above average affinity to both lightning and wind magic, and average affinity to the rest. With 3 rune slot open, one could go for the Fury/Double-Strike/Killer rune combo and have her deal high physical damage, but there is probably more suited character for that.

Since she's a mage character, Wendel does best with Lightning and Wind Runes. She is okay with Fire, Water and Earth Runes. For other runes, give her a Killer Rune for more critical hits, or a Wizard Rune to increase her magical power.

- Wendel was a mage-type character in Suikoden IV, but was turned into a fighter-type in Suikoden Tactics. This is most likely due to her weapon not being a mage "Type" weapon. This was also done with Rita.
- She has the highest Magic stat in Suikoden Tactics, although she cannot use any magic.
