Yam Koo is the Tenson Star in Suikoden and Suikoden II.

Background[]
Yam Ko is a fisherman and Tai Ho's brother-in-law. He's sworn the oath of brotherhood with Tai Ho.
Appearance[]
Yam Koo is a pale man, with white hair which is shaggy and messy. He wears a long Blue robe and also wears flip flops. In the Dunan Unification War, he's become much more pale than when he was seen previously, but, is otherwise seemingly unchanged between the two events.
Personality[]
Yam Koo has a laid back attitude most of the time, and enjoys fishing more than most things. He only seems to get worried when it's related to his brother, who is quite a spontaneous guy. Yam Koo also likes to openly talk about his brother in front of him, showing that he has a very blunt way of speaking.
Story[]
Suikoden I[]
During the Toran Liberation War, Yam Koo and Tai Ho have been fishing partners for a long time, and get along well, despite Yam Koo's worry over Tai Ho's habit of just letting things happen and going with the flow of events. This tendency gets Yam Koo involved with Tir when Tai Ho offers to explore Toran Castle, and eventually involves them in the Gate Rune Wars.
Yam Koo worries for his brother when Kimberley forces herself into their household, but a contract with Kun To allows them to escape north into Dunan.
Suikoden II[]
During the Dunan Unification War, while working in Coronet, Tai Ho's nature once again pulls Yam Koo into momentous events, starting with a simple trip across the lake to Kuskus, then joining the New State Army when Tai Ho joins to help Riou get to Two River. While a member of the group, Yam Koo offers his fishing expertise to help get ingredients for the restaurant run by Hai Yo. After the war, he enjoys a life of fishing on the shores of Lake Toran.
Role in the Game[]
Yam Koo joins the Tir automatically after clearing monsters out of Toran Castle.
Yam Koo is an average physical attacker and weak on magic.

Yam Koo joins when you recruit Tai Ho.
He is no longer a battle character like he was in the first game and he allows you to play the Fishing Minigame, which allows you to make some money off of the fish you catch, as well as supply ingredients for the Cook-off Minigame. You pay Yam Koo 100 potch for bait, then may choose to sell your catch to him, often for a profit.
Yam Koo is a Support Unit that provides +1 ATK and +1 DEF.

Yam Koo was a playable character in Suikoden, but not in Suikoden II.
