Yoshitaka Murayama (村山 吉隆?) was the creator and writer of the Suikoden series.
Biography[]
He joined Konami in 1992, and wrote the story of Suikoden, Suikoden II, Suikoden III, Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 1 and Genso Suikogaiden Vol. 2. He was also programmer for Genso Suikoden Card Stories. He left Konami in 2002 before the release of Suikoden III.
After leaving Konami, he started his own company, Blue Moon Studio, and created the game 10,000 Bullets0'. In 2017, he also wrote the story for Alliance Alive, a game which is reminiscent of the Suikoden games.
On July 24 2020, Yoshitaka Murayama announced the created of a new company, Rabbit & Bear Studios, of which he was the head. They announced the production of a new game, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, a game which is often called the spiritual successor to the Suikoden games. Other leaders in the company featured a number of Suikoden colleagues, including Junko Kawano and Osamu Komuta. The game was funded through a highly successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The release date is set for April 23, 2024.
He passed away on February 6, 2024 due to complications with an ongoing illness. News of his passing was released on February 14, 2024.
